This past weekend I had the pleasure of celebrating my girl (and amazing interior designer) Katie’s bachelorette party. It was such a blast staying at the Viceroy, hanging by the pool, going dancing, and of course checking at the shopping around Palm Springs. When we went by the Parker hotel to check out the eclectic design by Jonathan Alder, my friend Steph pointed out this killer bar cart that held open the door to the Parker’s restaurant. I WISH I took a pic because I can’t stop dreaming about this one bar cart. Now I’m looking for my own. Until then, here is some inspiration that has me calling out for tequila and lime… and vodka and whiskey…

I like how this bar area just melts into the space without screaming that's its a bar area. Try adding a lighting and accessories as a way to "disguise" the bar space. (Courtesy of Domino Magazine)

This is such a fun way to use a bar cart as a side table. (Courtesy of Dragonflies and Wood)

DIE! This is such a specatacular and unexpected piece by Steven Gambrel.

Gorgeous silver cart from Veranda Magazine

From one of my favorite blogs, "Cup of Joe"- Joanna Goddard's very own bar cart.
Here are some bar essentials to add to your bar cart- basic spirits (gin, rum, scotch, rye, vodka, tequila), a chic ice bucket, a vintage seltzer bottle (try looking for one ate the Alameda Flea Market), bartending instruments (corkscrew, bottle opener, a jigger, a cocktail shaker) and a few mixers (bitters, tonic water, club soda, orange, grapefruit and cranberry juice) and you are well on your way to being a well-prepared hostess!

Benjamin Moore's "Tequila Lime"
I know… I know… this is a vibrant color that many clients would run from. But, hey since I am on the Jonathan Adler kick, take a look at how he uses this bright hue.

I really love the look of rattan when used correctly, also known as sparingly. It gives great texture to a space, as well as a relaxed feel. Here are some great examples of rattan that I wouldn’t mind putting into my place.

Black Rattan Wing Chair ($1400)- love this upholstery with the black, but could see painting the chair a glossy white and bringing in a pop of color- an orange or coral pattern.

ORBITA Pendant by Tomoko Mizu- I would put these over my side tables in my bedroom.

The Doeloe Lounge- Okay, maybe I don't want this in my place, but I think this is super cool.

Biba Rounded Mirror by Kenneth Cobonque- looks like a reptile/ spider, but would love something like this in a 1/2 guest bath. This mirror also comes in a large size.

Victorian Inspired Bed- The Marianne by Sweetpea & Willow- I love how this is painted gray, makes it less girly, and little more rock and roll.
With all of these rattan styles, you can see many different artistic elements— modern, vintage, traditional, etc. Rattan is a great material that I think should no longer get the bad rap that is does. Where would you use it?

This khaki-like color would look great paired with navy. Look at how chic it looks in this space below.

Using khaki and navy together can look preppy and eclectic. Mix your textures and patterns to keep it interesting.
Happy Tuesday!

I have found that clients are extremely picky when it comes to their bed. I get it, you spend a third of your life sleeping, so it makes sense. I have been mulling over plenty of styles lately trying to find the perfect fit for a client so it fits BOTH her and her husband’s taste. In my search for their PERFECT bed, I have found a few that make me want to jump right into bed. Take a look and can you guess which headboard made my client’s swoon?

Avalon Bed in High Gloss Lizard

Leblon Peroba Bed by Environment Furniture- Made from Peroba wood, very chic AND environmentally friendly!

Agnetha Bed by Verellen Home Collection

Harrison Bed by Plantation Design- I wish my bedroom was large enough to accomodate this bed. I just LOVE it!

Marakesh Leather Bed- This bed screams DRAMA! It comes in a variety of colors too- lime green, hot pink, yellow... etc. You can make a statement no matter what color!

Dreamsicle by Kelly Moore
If anybody knows me, they know that I love neutral colors. I do use color in small doses because I feel like you can get sick of colors so quickly. However, “Dreamsicle” by Kelly Moore somehow made its way to my heart. I just love this whimsical color and I could use it against a darker hue, like navy, to tone down it’s neon base or with white to brighten up a space. This color screams MOD when combined with white! Where would you use it?
And just in case you were wondering, my clients picked…. #1, the Avalon Bed! It combines both masculine (color, material) and feminine (shape) elements, just what my clients were looking for.
Happy Thursday!
