After I had extensions for my wedding and my long hair thinned out a bit, I decided it was time for a change. I became a bit obsessed with trying to find the perfect hairstyle for the girl who has not cut her hair… in like 15 years. I came across a ton of modern bobs, lots of red, even some blues (Katy Perry), and my favorite look… ombre hair. Drew Barrymore was the first one to catch my eye with this new do. I’m not sure if it’s the new sparkler on her ring finger or her amazing tie dyed hair, but she is giving off a killer inner glow. Here is my ombre inspiration.

Well, we all know how much I do not like yellow on walls. It never looks as good as I want it to, either too warm, too orange, to lemony, ahhhh…. But, I LOVE yellow when it comes to accessories. I think yellow looks best with grays and crisp whites. See here… they even brought in some green. LOVE IT!

OBSESSED with this bedroom. It's a perfect balance of the use of yellow... just a pop here and a pop there. (www.decorpad.com)

Happy New Year! It’s the beginning of a fresh new start! I always make goals for the new year. The first goal is to go see more live music (Thanks Steph!), the second to not be so late all the time (Thanks Steph!), the third to find a hobby. Any ideas of a new hobby? What is your hobby? And lastly, of course it would be great to find inner peace and a little balance in my life…as I prepare to leave my computer at home each night. Here is some inspiration to get this year moving in the right direction…

#1: Go see more concerts!!! Jessie Baylin- Check out her music at: http://www.myspace.com/jessiebaylin

#2: Be on time!!!- I'll be sure to be on time with this new accessory by MARC JACOBS (Marine Rock gold-plated rubber watch)

#3: Find a Hobby!!!- This past weekend, my husband and I hiked through Marin. I'll look stylish in this vest as I huff and puff my way through nature. (The North Face Oh Snap Down Vest) Who knows... maybe hiking will be the new hobby!

#4: Inner Peace and Balance!!! Dream spiritual, yoga, spa retreat in Mexico. (http://www.villaananda.com/)

For those who have procrastinated getting their holiday decor up in there homes, this post is for you! You don’t have to sacrifice style or budget to create these holiday looks. Here’s to a White Christmas!

Hang brightly colored ornaments with coordinating ribbon from your light fixture.

I have plenty of friends who live in small spaces (city folk!), try using a string of lights against your wall to create your tree.

One of my favorite ideas for those without a fireplace-- Try using a long wooden stick hanging from ribbon to create your own impromptu fireplace and the perfect place to hang your stockings.

Count down the days until Christmas with this colorful advent calendar. You can add little prizes inside, or do what my mom always did--put little bits of paper listing different chores ... because Santa is always watching!

This white with hints of green is such a beautiful white. I like to use this soft color in bathrooms. See here…

When I decorate for anything, I really try not to get too theme-y. I want my space to look effortless, comfortable, and basically I like to re-use items I have around the house and bring in just a touch of the holidays. I want to be able to use my tablecloth throughout the year, whether fall, winter, spring or summer. Check out the look that I am going to sporting this Thanksgiving.

Last week we talked about inspiration for children’s bedrooms. This week we designed a few looks for our clients who were looking for a gender neutral space, where often times an overflow of guests would need to use. Therefore, the space needed to work for children ages 2-13 and adults of all ages. Here are two looks that we came up with. Which do you like best? A or B?

We are in the middle of creating a gender neutral, children’s bedroom right now. It’s been really fun to come up with ways to make sure it is not too young, since it needs to appeal to children of several ages. Our clients are looking to welcome their grandchildren ranging in ages of 2-13! We want all the children to feel at home in this space. Check out some children’s bedrooms that make us feel forever young!

Great textures, colors, and rustic touches.

Restoration Hardware's new Child & Baby line is amazing!

Preppy Chic- Ticking wallpaper, greek key pattern, and crisp navy and white!

Bright and cheery!- Going to adopt the striped ceiling in my kids room (one day).

I’ve said this time and again that “navy is the new black.” It’s my go-to neutral! Pop this pink with a neutral navy for a clean, preppy, and classic, yet modern look. See…

Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I love the chevron pattern– It’s painted in my living room. To me, it looks modern, timeless, has such a clean line, and most of all I believe this pattern can work in any space. It is pretty much the sweetest pattern since sliced bread, no wait… since candy! Okay, that was a reach but it gets difficult getting the paint theme in every time. Take a look at my favorite chevron patterns!

Use on drapery.

Upholster a chair for a bit of pop!

For less of a commitment, try a small throw rug.

This is my favorite use of the chevron pattern- looks organic, modern, and gives lots of texture.

Re-upholster a vintage find! Check out Craigslist for cheap finds!

I really enjoy the color pink when it’s used with gray. It doesn’t appear to be so feminine. Take a look at this small office space, where the designer used grass cloth gray wallpaper and pale pink drapery—but the real kicker, the disco ball! Obsessed!

Sorry I’ve been taking a break from the blogging world, it’s due to my wedding, which is now all done and the restaurant design that is consuming me and my life at this time. But, I thought I should share a bit of the design for the new restaurant in North Beach. Rustic wood, crisp white tiles, mixing of metals, a touch of sparkle, and a bit of a man’s pinstripe. Here are little bits of design to expect in the new space. Opens September 1, Park Tavern, 1652 Stockton Street, San Francisco.

Click for a closer view.
And a pic from our wedding…

It's amazing that I got to marry my best bud in the world!

What a perfect neutral… Eventhough this gray has a touch of blue, it can still be a neutral hue. See it here on kitchen cabinets.

Wow, it sure is getting hot outside. I am loving this summer and especially the heat after the cold months. I find myself staying up later and later because of how late the sun goes down. During this time, I am enjoying plenty of summer reading that is when I’m not working… Right now I am reading Tina Fey’s book which has me cracking up. This is when I dream of a reading nook, filled with fluffy pillows, a good reading light, and a glass of wine by my side. Take a look at some of my favorite reading nooks that complete a mid summer’s night…

It's a perfect space, with fireplace and all...

I want a rustic wood bench...

Farmhouse-style nook.

A great use of space...

This is a nook that I styled for a client in Menlo Park.

This sharp color looks great as an accent. I like using it around trim, window detailing, or even on doors. Check it out, how this designer used a dark trim color. Loving it!
